Analyze tools

In Digital Blue Foam, designer can quickly generate solar and wind studies and download reports with key information regarding the project.

You can see the sun and wind icons in the top right side on the ribbon menu. Click on the buttons to activate the analysis option.

Sun Analysis

Sun Settings

  1. Activate the Sun Studies by clicking on the sun icon.

  1. You can specifically control the sun position by selecting a particular date and time of the year. The dropdown menu allows you to quickly select useful times and dates for your sun study.

Sun Studies

Digital Blue Foam allows you to do a shadow, sun hours and daylight autonomy analysis for your project. To do that:

  1. Open the Sun Studies panel by clicking Sun Studies tab.
  2. There are 3 options of the Sun study (Shadow - Sun Hours - Daylight) which you can select.

  • Shadow Analysis
  1. You can select the useful times (morning, noon, afternoon, evening) for your shadow study.
  2. The dropdown menu allows you to quickly select the specific Season (time of the year).

  1. Once you finished, you can download the report by clicking the Download Study button.

  • Sun Hours
  1. You can select the specific Season(time of the year) you would like to perform sun hour calculation by clicking on the sub-menu seasin icons.
  2. You also can choose to run the calculation only for your building or with the context by clicking the toggle button.

  1. On the bottom panel, you can see the graph showing the amount of time (%percentage) the design receives direct sunlight per day for given time period.
  2. Once you finished, you can download the report by clicking the Download Study button.

  • Daylight
  1. There are 2 type of daylight metrics you can choose: 1) Daylight Autonomy(DA) and 2) Spatial Daylight Autonomy(sDA)
  2. The slider allows you to change the percentage of Window to Wall Ratio (WWR)
  3. The performance graph on the bottom panel showing the quality of your building.

Wind Analysis

DBF Wind studies allows to visualize the wind direction and prevalence in the location of your project.

Wind Rose

  1. Open the Wind Studies panel by clicking on the wind icon on the top right ribbon menu.
  2. Activate the Wind Rose diagram

  1. You can toggle between seasons by clicking on the sub-menu season icons.
  2. Donwload wind study report by clicking download button on the bottom panel.

CFD Analysis

You can request CFD analysis for your project by filling up the detail of your project.
