Import Custom Models
Aligning a Model in Rhino3D
Step 1. Alignment
- Locate your model to the center (Origin point) of Rhino3D environment
- Locate the site where the center of the site matches the center of the model
Step 2: Generate Floor Lines
- In Rhino, create a new layer named "building".
- Load the script "extract_floors.gh" and select the objects by right-clicking the first battery and selecting "Set multiple geometries".
- In Rhino3D, select the objects that you want to export.
- Floor lines should now be displayed in the Rhino viewport.
- Bake the last battery to the "building" layer.
Step 3: Export DXF
- In Rhino3D, select the floor lines, and make sure they are in the "building" layer.
- Type "export" in the command line or select File/Export Selected.
- Export the floor lines with the 2007 Natural Option to a DXF file
Step 4: Import DXF in DBF Play
- Drag and drop or from Menu -> Import … -> Locate the file exported from Rhino3D.
- Use the layer as “Design”
- The imported model will be placed at the center of the site
This process is used to align a model in Rhino3D and export it to a .DXF file, which can then be imported into DBF Play. The steps are easy to follow and should be straightforward for users with basic experience in Rhino. Remember to always use the "building" layer when generating floor lines and exporting to DXF to ensure proper placement in DBF Play.
