Plot Subdivision

Choose from a selection of plot subdivision strategies to divide your site algorithmically into a variety of patterns. Strategies respond to the subplot target set in the Targets tab as well.

Select Subdivision Strategy

Find subdivision strategies by accessing the sampler pad in right hand sidebar. Find the typologies panel by clicking on the Typology tab.

Select a strategy from the 4 options provided in the typology tab. Only one option can be activated at a time. Click on the option again to re-shuffle the subdivision - this can be used to shuffle strategies such as Voronoi and Uneven until desired pattern is achieved.

Strategies can be activated/ deactivated by clicking on their icons. Hover on the icons to reveal their names.

Let us now look at each subdivision strategy and the patterns you can create with them.

Halve

The halve strategy recursively halves the largest plot until the desired number of subplots is reached.

Slice

The slice strategy cuts parallel even slices from the given plot.

Uneven

The uneven strategy cuts parallel uneven slices from the given plot, based on an arbitrary ratio.

Voronoi

The voronoi strategy creates voronoi cells within the site boundary.
